16
• Samples were placed in an iced sample container pending transport to the laboratory
The field measurements for the four wells were recorded on a field log, along with the time and
volume of water purged at each measurement The pH and conductivity meters were calibrated
at the beginning of the sample day Copies of Kleinfelder's purge and sample logs are included
in Appendix B
A trip blank sample was transported with the groundwater sample containers to the analytical
laboratory A trip blank is a "clean" water sample that is prepared by the laboratory It is used
for quality control purposes If contaminants are detected in the trip blank, it is usually attributed
to travel and laboratory-derived contamination If the same contaminants are detected in the well
sample and the trip blank sample, the detections may not represent actual contaminants in the
wells, but may be results of contamination of the samples during transport or in the laboratory
Monitoring Well Survey
Kleinfelder retained the services of Morrow Surveying to obtain the longitude, latitude, and top
of casing elevations Morrow Surveying is a California State licensed surveyor On October 27,
2004 the wells were surveyed to an accuracy of 1 foot for horizontal coordinates and 0 01 foot
for elevations Survey measurements were made on the north rim of the monitoring well PVC
casings The wells were surveyed in accordance with the SWRCB UST Program — AB2886
(Electronic Reporting) regulations A copy of the well survey data sheet is included in
Appendix C
LABORATORY ANALYSIS
The trip blank and four groundwater samples were transferred under chain-of-custody
documentation to a representative of Kiff Analytical Laboratory in Davis, California Kiff is
certified by the State of California for the analyses performed The samples were analyzed for
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) Purgeable (Gasoline Range)
' • BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes)
• Five fuel oxygenates (MTBE, TAME, TBA, DIPE, and ETBE)
' • Two lead scavengers (1,2-DCA and EDB)
Analytical results for the October 14, 2004 sampling are presented along with previous results in
Table 3 Copies of the chain-of-custody form and analytical laboratory reports are included in
Appendix D
FINDINGS
• TPH purgeable as gasoline, BTEX, four of the five fuel oxygenates, 1,2-DCA, and EDB
were not detected above laboratory reporting limits in the four monitoring wells
• The fuel oxygenate MTBE was detected at 14 ug/L in MW-1, 1 5 ug/L in MW-2, and
0 75 ug/L in MW-3 MTBE was not detected above laboratory reporting limits in MW-4
49014-11SAC4R482 Page 3 of 6 November 18,2004
Copyright 2044 Kleinfelder,Inc
KLFINFELDER 3077 Fite Circle,Sacramento, CA 95827-1815 (916)366-1701 (9 16) 3b6-7013 fax
