TreadwelUMlo
•
1 contaminant concentrations at the former Chevron, Mobil and Scotties stations (ASE, 2002c)
(See Appendices E1, E4, and E5)
Former Self-Service Car Wash - 575 West Grant Line Road There was a self-service car wash
' located east of the Chevron Station (Figure 2) The car wash, which was a self-serve coin-
operated wash, was apparently demolished during the City of Tracy West Grant Line Road
twidening project (CBA, 1998) During this time an oil-water separator was removed in the
vicinity of the car wash and was observed to have been leaking oil to the sewer(Lynch, 2003)
' Based on the drawings for the West Grant Line Road widening project, the location of former
self-serve car wash is shown in Appendix E2
' Chevron Fuel Pi ehne-- West Grant Line Road Chevron has ai etroleum pipeline located along
P PP g
' Grant Line Road running east-west near the centerline of the road The pipeline is located just
upgradient of the Site The 6-inch carbon-steel pipeline has carried various refined fuel products
' including gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel since it was installed in 1965 (Pratt, 2003) The pipeline
extends from the Central Valley to the Bay Area(Pratt, 2003) Appendix E2 shows the location
' of the Chevron pipeline, although it is identified on the drawing as " 8" PETROL ", Mr Dave
Pratt of Chevron said it is actually 6-inches in diameter (Pratt, 2003) Other utility corridors that
' have the potential for movement of contaminated groundwater as preferential pathways are also
shown in Appendix E2
' Tra Exress Wash &Lube and ormer car wash -2
X80 Trac Blvd Since 1980, a car wash
' facility has occupied this site (SJC, 1996) In 1996 a new car wash and lubrication service
facility named the Tracy Express Wash & Lube was constructed Petroleum contaminated
' groundwater was encountered during construction of the new facility(Table 1) Subsequently a
subsurface investigation was performed and found that the groundwater beneath the entire
property was contaminated with gasoline(SJC, 1996 & 1999) According to Mr Bernie Dietz of
the San Joaquin Company, contamination was found to extend east beyond the car wash property
onto the adjacent Site (541 West Grant Line Road property) (Dietz, 2003) Mr Dietz stated that
he inadvertently drilled boring PP-7 several feet east on the 541 West Grant Line Road property
Site Assessment Report 9 21 May 2003
' TREADWELL&ROLLO,INC
