1 <br /> 7hmdwe1EJU10 <br /> • <br /> ' 4 to 4 5 feet bgs and groundwater flow direction was determined to be toward the northwest <br /> (SETC, 1996) Several borings and wells were eventually installed near the LUSTs, however the <br /> ' consultant believed the groundwater flow direction was to the northeast (not northwest) and <br /> therefore no wells were actually located downgradient of the former fuel tanks and pump island <br /> (SETC, 1996) It is well documented that petroleum leaks at service stations mainly occur along <br /> piping and pump islands No investigation was performed for the piping or pump island The <br /> ' SJCEHD and RWQCB closed the site in 1997 <br /> ' Cah fornia Highway Patrol—385 West Grant Line Road, One leaking gasoline UST and fuel <br /> dispenser were removed in May 2000 (Appendix E7) The groundwater is contaminated with <br /> ' gasoline and associated constituents including MTBE (URS, 2000) The depth to groundwater <br /> varies from 4 5 to 6 feet bgs and the flow direction is to the north-northwest (URS, 2000) The <br /> facility has been out of compliance with monitoring and assessing offsite extent of contaminant <br /> plume for 2 years (SJCEHD, 2003) <br /> Former Shell Station (7-11 Store) —455 West Grant Line Road Three gasoline tanks were <br /> ' found to be leaking in 1986 and removed in 1989 (Table 1 and Appendix E8) Groundwater was <br /> significantly contaminated with gasoline and more than 15 monitoring wells were installed <br /> ' (HLA, 1991) Groundwater was encountered at approximately 5 feet and flowed to the northeast <br /> (HLA, 1988) <br /> 4.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> Historically, residential homes and one small commercial building occupied the Site Only two <br /> ' tire businesses have occupied the small commercial building on the southwest corner of the Site <br /> including <br /> • 1969 to 1994 - Grant Line Frame & Wheel Alignment Service, and <br /> ' . 1994 to 1998 - Jimmy's Tire Shop <br /> li <br /> 1 �I <br /> Site Assessment Report 1 1 21 May 2003 <br /> ', READWELL&ROLLO,INC <br />
