2
• Provide geophysical clearance for each boring location and a 10 foot by 10 foot
area surrounding the boring location in case underground utilities interfere with
placement of the boring;
• Hand auger up to five feet in each boring location; and
• Log each borehole using the Unified Soil Classification System.
Environmental Borings
To address the further delineation of areas of environmental impact in the six AOIs
(excavation areas),the following will be conducted:
AOI-1
• Five soil borings (AOII-1 through A0I1-5) will be hand angered to a depth of
approximately 3 feet below ground surface (bgs); and
• Samples will be collected at I and 3 feet in each boring (depth of impact observed
in on-site boring B1-2) and will be analyzed for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons
(PAHs) using United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method
8270C Selective Ion Monitoring.
AOI-2
• Four soil borings (AOI2-1 through A0I2-4) will be hand angered to a depth of
approximately 3 feet bgs in the area near the south end of the on-site Pole Rack to
further delineate impacts identified in RI Boring E2-2; and
• Samples will be collected at I and 3 feet in each boring (depth of impact observed
in on-site boring E2-2) and will be analyzed for PAHs using EPA Method 8270C
Selective Ion Monitoring.
AOI-3
• Three soil borings (AOI3-1 through A0I3-3) will be drilled to a maximum depth of
15 feet bgs to further delineate impacts observed in RI Boring E3-1. The first five
feet in these borings will be hand angered to a depth of approximately 5 feet bgs;
and
• Samples will be collected at 1, 3, 5, 10 and 15 feet in each boring (depth of impact
observed in on-site boring E3-1)and will be analyzed for PAHs using EPA Method
8270C Selective Ion Monitoring and TPH using EPA Method 8015.
AOI-4
• Three soil borings (AOI4-1 through A0I4-3)will be drilled to a maximum depth of
15 feet bgs to further delineate impacts observed in RI Boring A3-2. The fust five
feet in these borings will be hand angered to a depth of approximately 5 feet bgs;
and
• Samples will be collected at 1, 3, 5, 10 and 15 feet in each boring (depth of impact
observed in on-site boring A3-2) and will be analyzed for PAHs using EPA Method
8270C Selective Ion Monitoring and TPH using EPA Method 8015.
