MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION REPORT
Pete's Place
9355 West Highway 4
Stockton, CA
January 1995
1.0 INTRODUCTION
In accordance with a request from Mr. James Whetsell, Jr., Geological Audit Services, Inc.
(GeoAudit) has drilled one soil boring at 935 West Highway 4 in Stockton, California (the
-- site). The boring was completed as a groundwater monitoring well. The investigation was
performed at the direction of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services -
Environmental Heath Division (PHS/EHD). The purpose of the investigation was to
determine if impacted soil and groundwater is present at the site. This report describes the
activities performed in October and December 1994 and presents the results of these
investigations. The location of the site is illustrated in Figure 1. A plan of the site is
illustrated in Figure 2.
2.0 BACKGROUND
2.1 Site Location
The site is located on the north side of West Highway 4 approximately seven miles west of
Stockton, California (Figure 1). The property is located within the San Joaquin Delta;
surrounding land use is agricultural. The property is topographically flat and is located west
of the San Joaquin River. One building is located on the property and operates as Pete's
Place, a bar and grocery mart.
2.2 UST Removal
Two underground storage tanks (USTs) were removed from the site in June 1991. One
12,000-gallon regular gasoline UST and one 8,000-gallon unleaded gasoline UST were
removed by Holt Repair and Manufacturing. Thorpe Oil then transported the USTs off-site.
The tank pit was backfilled with the excavated soil and pea gravel. Groundwater was
encountered during tank removal.
FGL Environmental Laboratories sampled both water and soil from the excavation. Five soil
samples and two water samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH as
C ;.p"I Mali,S—...Inc 1
P—'.Pl.a PIEWI 023/Nw 1994
