T
CHRONOLOGY
KING'S ISLAND
21334 W ST RT 4
STOCKTON CA
12-11-96
PHS-EHD receives notification that a small UGT had been removed from King's
Island from the consultant doing the sampling work. The consultant said the
tank was used to fuel gasoline powered boats and had holes in it. He further
said that the tank pit was excavated to remove soil with odors and the resulting
excavation was 13' x 8' x 6'. The consultant wanted PHS-EHD to come out and
observe the soil sampling. Later, PHS-EHD receives copy of analytical results of
soil samples collected at the site by the consultant on 11-13-95 without any
regulatory oversight. These results are shown below.
Tank Pit Bottom Sample and Stockpile Soil Sample Results
11-11-95
(ppm)
SAMPLE TPH GAS BENZENE TOLUENE ETHYL- TOTAL
BENZENE XYLENE
T-1 B 4.7 0.013 >0.005 0.012 0.033
TAS 1.2 >0.005 >0.005 0.0056 0.026
03-29-96
PHS-EHD performed site inspection this date to observe soil sampling from the
excavation. Two bottom and four side wall samples were taken from the
excavation. Approximately T of water was in the open excavation and the water
line on the sidewall showed about one foot of vertical water movement. One
water sample was collected from the excavation for analysis.
08-07-96
PHS-EHD reviews report of the excavation soil sampling. The results are shown
below and, as the bottom samples showed gasoline contamination, PHS-EHD, in
a letter dated 08-08-96, requested additional investigation to determine the full
lateral extent.
