Wright <br /> Environmental <br /> Services, Inc. <br /> Construction • Engineering • Remediation IE F ) V D <br /> May 9, 2001 J LI <br /> Project No 4184 1 MAY 1 8 2001 <br /> City of Tracy ENVIRONMENT HEALTH <br /> 520 Tracy Boulevard <br /> Tracy, CA 95376 PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> Attn Mr Paul Verma <br /> Re: Request for Site Closure Report, <br /> Tracy Auto Stereo, 10 West Grant Line Road, Tracy, CA <br /> Wright Project No. 4184; PHS EHD Site Code 504834 <br /> Dear Mr Verma, <br /> Wright Environmental Services, Inc (Wright) is pleased to provide you with this Request <br /> for Site Closure report for the above referenced site (see Figure 1) As you know, the <br /> purpose of this work is to provide one well for monitoring depth to groundwater and <br /> petroleum contaminants in groundwater as required by the San Joaquin County Public <br /> Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHS EHD) in their letters dated January <br /> 26, 1998, May 17, 2000 and December 27, 2000 <br /> Background and Interim Cleanup <br /> Wright removed five underground storage tanks from the site on October 23, 1993 the <br /> tanks included Tank 1, 90-gallon, Tank 2, 300-gallon, Tank 3, 280-gallon, Tank 4, 18- <br /> gallon and Tank 5, 18-gallon Tanks 4 and 5 were part of the associated piping for Tanks <br /> 2 and 3 The tanks had apparently been used for gasoline storage However, the tanks <br /> were apparently installed at different intervals based upon construction materials In <br /> addition, it was common for kerosene (such as lamp oil) to be dispensed from facilities at <br /> the time Given the construction and observation during removal, Tank l may have been a <br /> kerosene tank <br /> Tank 2 had holes in it and soil contamination was evident at the time of removal <br /> Groundwater occurred roughly 8- to 10 feet below the surface Approximately 190 cubic <br /> yards of contaminated soil was excavated, and 3225 gallons of groundwater with a thin <br /> layer of floating product was pumped from the excavation Analytical testing showed that <br /> Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPHG) was detected in soil and groundwater <br /> samples, and Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Diesel was not detected in any sample (see <br /> Tables 1 and 2 and Figures 1 and 2) Following the soil excavation, the roadway, curbs <br /> and sidewalk were realigned due to construction of a right hand turn lane from east bound <br /> of Grant Line Road to southbound Holly <br /> During the removal of T-1 through T-5, Wright was informed by the former property <br /> owner that the City acquired the property for realignment of Grant Line Road and tanks T-1 <br /> through T-5 were not known to have been present Also the property owner reported two <br /> additional tanks had been removed at an earlier date from his property to the east side of the <br /> • building <br /> 67 E 10th Street • Tracy,CA 95376 <br /> 209 833 0758 • Fax 209 832 5152 <br /> wnght@inreach com Lic ##651501 A-B HazMat Page 1 i4, <br /> websit http//home inreach comfwnght <br />
