Tracy,California
Dear Ms. McCartnev:
ATC Associates Inc. has prepared this workplan. on behalf of The Customer Company for the
performance of additional subsurface investigation activities at the above referenced site. The
purpose of the additional subsurface investigation is to evaluate the horizontal and vertical extent
of petroleum impacted soil and groundwater. This work is being done at the request of San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EFID) in their correspondence dated March
8. 2004.
i
i
The scope of work includes advancing three CPT borings and six Geoprobet soil borings,
collection and analysis of selected soil and groundwater samples, and preparing an investigation
report detailing site activities. The scope of work is described "in detail in the following
paragraphs.
SITE LOCATION
The site is located on the north side of East Grant Line Road in Tracy, California, as shown on
Figure 1. The location is a residential and commercial area.
BACKGROUND
On March 3, 1988, two 10,000-gallon underground storage tanks (liSTs) were excavated and
removed from the site. One was used to store leaded gasoline and one was used to store
unleaded gasoline. Groundwater was encountered in the UST excavation at approximately seven
feet below ground surface (bgs). Laboratory analyses of two samples of groundwater collected
from within the excavation indicated the groundwater had been impacted by petroleum
hydrocarbons.
s:\enviromentaIU5847\37\reports\wko.doc 1
ENVIRONMENTAL, GEOTECHNICAL AND MATERIALS PROFESSIONALS
I
