Based on comments received from the
CVRWQCB, additional site characterization and feasibility studies must be conducted
at the site before bioremediation can be proposed for corrective action.
According to the CVRWQCB, a proposal for bioremediation is premature without the
completion of a complete site assessment (soil and groundwater), a number of
preliminary feasibility studies, and a satisfactory pilot study.
The proposal submitted to this office is deficient in the following areas:
1) Site assessment to determine full extent of the contamination is not yet
complete.
2) The soil at the site should be characterized for the following: moisture
content, porosity, nitrogen content, phosphorous content, and naturally
occurring biological content.
3) Groundwater pumping and vapor extraction tests should be performed at
the site.
4) For anaerobic bacteria, nitrogen and methane, in addition to carbon
dioxide and oxygen must be monitored. According to the CVRWQCB,
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
