Approximately 100 cubic yards of soil were <br /> excavated during the tank .removal on March 3, 1988. Approximately 350 to <br /> 400 cubic yardsof soil was additionally excavated from April 25 through <br /> April 28, 1988. The total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) concentrations <br /> present in the excavation side walls and in the soil piles was assessed <br /> with. organic vapor screening and chemical—analysis_._The maximum TPH <br /> concentration detected in �the,.r:e-m—ining sora--is- 30--.-mg/kg., ._-ThisZ <br /> concentration __was_detected_on-the south--wallLof the,_excavation-to within->l <br /> foot of- the` sidewalk. ' <br /> The TPH concentrations remaining in the excavation are low and benzene was <br /> not detected. Every effort was. made to remove the contaminated, soil from <br /> the -excavation. The excavation was limited to the south by the sidewalk <br /> and to the southeast by the. stockpiled soil. The remaining petroleum <br /> hydrocarbon concentrations do not necessitate the need for additional soil <br /> remediation. Upon receipt of the .the San Joaquin <br /> Local Health District's approval, The .Customer Company intends to mobilize <br /> a tank installation crew on May 9, 1988. <br /> Kleinfelder will prepare a plan and obtain Air Pollution Control District <br /> approval for aeration of the additionally excavated soil as- necessary.
