The liquid.is decanted off
and the process is repeater] with..an additional 50 ml of methylene chloride.
The combined solvent extracts are filtered through sodium sulfate and the
extract is concentrated to a 5 ml final volume.
' f P GC ANALYSIS -
 Epi I
An appropriate volume of the sample extract is injected into a Gas
Chromatograph equipped wAfh a Flame Ionization Detector (FID), a split/
E splitless capillary injector (operated in the splitless mode), and a fused
silica capillary column. The TPH fraction:is quantitated_as gasoline and/or
#2 diesel fuel (and/or different petroleum hydrocarbon fuel.types if
requested, such as JP-4 jet fuel) based on relative retention times and
examination of the elution profile. The TPH fraction quantitation is based
on chromatographic peak_areas against a-_multipoint standard curve.
,A -
{ sy1
_ CHEMWESTANALYNCAL LABORATORIES,ING.
• w
$"Y
