1 • -
XLEINFELDER
i
fi
3 SOIL PILE REMEDIATION PROPOSAL
Based on analytical results of the composite from SP-3 and SP-4, and PID
readings from sP-1 through SP-5, the northern portion of the sail pile had
TPH concentration of less than 100 mg/kg and was transported to Forward
Landfill. The northern half of the soil will be used as cover material
according to Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) guidelines.
Based on analytical
y results of composite samples SP-5, SP-6, SP--8 and
SP-9, and PID readings from SP-6 through SP-10, we propose to aerate the
southern portion of the soil pile onsite. Usingthe
PTD readings and .
r analytical results, the southern half of the soil pile has been assessed
sy as having an organic content of 1,000 to 2,000 mg/kg TPH. Based on the
e
PID readings . and analytical result--3, the 2,300 mg/kg TPH concentration
from the
composite sample of SP-8 and SP-10 a
appears to represent isolated
maximum readings; : while the lower PID readings reflect the average TPH
a concentration of the southernortion of the
P Pile. Using a 1,000 to 2,000
PPM volatilE organic contentcriteria for selecting.,the rate of aeration
E '? (Appendix B; San. Joaquin County Air Pollution Control District [APCD] '
guidelines) and amount of soil, aerated, we propose to aerate the southern f
r
portion in two stages onsite. During the first stage of aeration 30 i.
cubic yards will be aerated for approximately one day and the remaining 20 .
Y
t [r cubic yards•the following day. _.
IIIfCCS&&#pddd The soil will be aerated onsite, behind the store, on an asphalt_aurface;=..:
.
.:
secured by a wall and fence (Plate 2). A front end loader tractor,
equipped with'.disk and.scrapper attachments, will be used to till and turn
i.
the soil during the aeration operation.
p If.j Soil to; be aerated will be uncovered and spread out in a layer
it approximately 6. to 12 inches thick. the soil will be turned and r'spread
? at leas once a.day.
