April 2011995
Project 113-26-04, Work Plan, Mage 7
Placement along Holly Drive west of the tanks, east of the tanks near the property
line and east of the store, respectively, depending on the results of the samples
obtained from the hand auger bonngs
The tasks of the work plan and an estimate for the schedule of the project follow.
TASK 1-DEVELOP WORK PLAN AND SITE SAFETY PLAN
The site safety plan (Appendix A: Site Safety Plan) will be on-site during all field
activities An underground locating service will be employed to identify
underground utilities and other possible subsurface obstacles. A minimum of Level
D safety equipment is required for all field activities. The work plan and site safety
plan will be submitted to and approved by the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Division prior to permitting or field work.
TASK 2-DRILL SOIL BORINGS, INSTALL MONITORING WELLS
Upon approval of the Work Plan and Site Safety Plan, all required permits will be
obtained and the necessary notifications made. A State of California Certified
Engineering Geologist, Gary D. Lowe, will supervise the drilling of the seven soil
borings and two wells by Parker personnel and V&W Drilling , a state-licensed water
well driller.
The Parker Environmental standard operating procedures for drilling soil borings
and obtaining soil samples are included in the Appendix B: Standard Operating
Procedures for Site investigations. The proposed soil bonngs will be located as
described above The proposed location of the soil borings may have to be adjusted
according to drill-ng accessibility, underground utilities, or obstacles
Soil samples will be collected from the borings at approximate intervals of every 2.5-5
feet, for lithologic and hydrogeologic characterization, and for possible chemical
analysis The samples will be screened by sensory perceptions or with an organic
vapor analyzer or a photo-ionization detector to be qualitatively evaluated for the
presence of volatile hydrocarbons. This screening will aid in the selection of the one
soil sample per boring to be analyzed at a state-certified lab (McCampbell Analytical,
#1644) for TPH-g and BTEX Parker standard operating procedures for collecting
organic vapor data are described in the Appendix B.
Upon drilling to total depth, groundwater momtonng wells will be installed through
the augers as described in Appendix B, and graphically depicted in Figure 3 - Typical
Morutoring Well Diagram
All soil cuttings will be stored on-site on top of and beneath plastic sheeting pending
laboratory analysis for appropriate disposal
Parker Environmental Services, 190 East 7th Street, Pittsburg, CA 94565-2317
Phone (415) 439-1024 Fax (415) 439-2566
