^ volatile organic compounds. A Photoionization meter will be
used. The highest headspace- -^adi..g will he sent to the
analytical laboratory and analyzed for Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons (as gasoline)/BTEX-EPA Method 8015/6020,
Purgeable Aromatic Compounds-EPA Method 80.10, TPH?as diesel)-
EPA Method 3510-8015, and oil and Grease-Standard Method 5520
D & F.
3. Collect a soil sample of the maturated zone immediately above
the horizon that water is first encountered. A 6-inch long
brass tube will be used _.nside the split--spoon sampler to
collect the sample.
4. Provide for the analysis of TPHg/BTEX, TPHd, Purgeable
Halocarbons and Oil and Grease for these saturated zone
samples.
5. Collect a sample at any interval that may represent a lithology
change and analyze its headspace for possible laboratory
analysis.
6. Record soil or rock type, color, plasticity, consistency,
sorting, roundness, grain size, soil classification (Unified
Soil Classification System) , moisture content and water level.
These data will be presented in a boring log format.
F1. 7. Upon collection of the water samples they will be analyzed, by
a state-certified analytical laboratory, for TPH (as gasoline)/
BTEX, oil and Grease, TPH (as diesel) and Purgeable Aromatic
Compounds.
S. survey wells to a common datum and establish a map detailing
the expected groundwater flow direction and define the
approximate limits of the contaminant plume.
9. Present a Report of Findings for this phase of the subsurface
contamination assessment to the SJCPHS-EHD and the central
Valley Regional Water Quiaity Control Board for their review.
10. The installation of the wells and soil borings will be overseen
by a registered professionl Engineer or Geologist.
11. After review of this phase of the project, a remedial action
plan will forthcoming.
I would appreciate your opinion and any suggested additions or
deletions to the work plan. it is the intent of this work plan to
strongly follo-a the guidelines for subsurface soil and groundwater
investigations involving LUSTS as set forth by the Tri-Regional
Recommendations of the. Central Valley Regional Water. Quality
Control Boare. as outlined in their July .1, 1998 (revised April 3,
1989) publication.
