REIT, - TRACY March 15, 1490 <br /> waste oil materials discharged into the soils is not known. <br /> PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The proposed scope of work is as follows: <br /> A) excavate the soils in and around the waste oil tank <br /> excavation. The soils found to be contaminated will be <br /> excavated using a backhoe, operated by State-licensed <br /> personnel. A Gastector (a field instrument used to monitor <br /> gasoline vapors) will be used to assist in screening relative <br /> soil vapor concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons in the <br /> excavated soil materials, believed to be contaminated. The <br /> instrument will be calibrated to hexane. Excavation of these <br /> soils will continue (if site conditions permit) until the <br /> instrumentation indicates that the levels of gasoline vapors in <br /> the removed soils are relatively low or non-detectable. When <br /> the field instrumentation indicates low or non-detectable <br /> levels of petroleum hydrocarbons vapors are remaining in the <br /> -- dredged soils, the excavation will cease. <br /> R <br /> TECC estimates that approximately 50 cubic yards of <br /> contaminated soils will be removed from the excavation. If <br /> ground water is encountered during the excavation, care will be <br /> taken not to further disturb the water bearing materials. The <br /> depth to ground water will be noted, and it will be visually <br /> examined for a sheen or for free petroleum product on the <br /> surface. It is the understanding of `r'ECC that the depth to <br /> ground water is approximately nine to ten-feet below grade. To <br /> help insure public safety, the site will be secured using <br /> portable barricades or fencing; <br /> B) collect soil samples from the limits of the excavation and <br /> provide for their analysis.
