August 14, 1990 <br /> Mr.doe Mell <br /> 333 West Santa Clara Street <br /> San Jose, CA 95126 <br /> SOIL EXCAVATION and SAMPLING <br /> 275 Grantline Road <br /> Tracy, California <br /> i <br /> Dear Mr. Melt: <br /> On July 11, 12, and 13, 1990 THE ENVIRONMENTAL CONSTRUCTION COMPANY <br /> (TFCC) excavated soils around the area of a former UST on the <br /> property located at 275 Grantline Road in Tracy, California. The <br /> purpose of this work was to remove and dispose of all hydrocarbon- <br /> contaminated soils and/or groundwater near the former underground <br /> storage tank (UST) on the site. The scope of work included 1. ) the <br /> removal and disposal of hydrocarbon-contaminated soils and any <br /> _ remaining product lines; 2. ) the collection of soil samples from <br /> the vadose zone (the zone of saturated soils directly above the <br /> water table) around the perimeter of the tanks former location; 3. ) <br /> the collection of any groundwater encountered; 4.) Providing for <br /> analytical laboratory results of the sampling; 5. ) This report of <br /> findings, conclusions, and recommendations. <br /> LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF SITE <br /> The site is a retail video sales and rental store located in a <br /> commercialized and residential area in the east-central portion of <br /> the town of Tracy, California. The property is located on the <br /> northwest corner of the intersection of Entrada Way and Grantline <br /> Road. The site is paved with asphalt, except where the pump island <br /> i is located, which is covered with concrete. The site was a retail <br /> ? gasoline service station that has been converted to a video sales <br /> and rental store. An inactive product dispensing area (pump <br /> island)remains on the southern portion of the property. Adjacent <br /> properties include apartment complexes to the north and west, <br /> 5nowhite Drive-In, an inactive fast food restaurant, to the east, <br /> Tracy Bowl and Restaurant to the south, and a Exxon retail <br /> gasoloine sevice station to the southeast. The water supply in the <br /> area is from the city of Tracy. The closest body of surface water, <br /> the San Joaquin River, is located approximately 3 miles to the <br /> east. The site is underlain by a grayish-brown to medium brown, <br /> stiff, clay to a depth of about 1 foot; below this is a grayish- <br /> brown, stiff, clay to a-depth of approximately 2 feet below-grade;- <br /> I <br />
