ra <br /> f <br /> be trained in emergency contingencies.Xcn-rant monitoring of field activities will <br /> be performed to ensure compliance with the safety elan. <br /> 5.2 CONTINGENCY PLAN <br /> 5.2.1 Emergency Procedures <br /> In the event that an emergency develops ou site, the procedures delineated <br /> herein are to be immediately followed. Emergency conditions are considered to <br /> exist if: <br /> • Any member of the field crew is involved in an accident or experiences any <br /> adverse effects or symptoms of exposure while on site. <br /> • A condition is discovered that suggests the existence of a situation more <br /> hazardous than anticipated. <br /> i <br /> General emergency procedures, and specific procedures for personal injury and <br /> chemical exposure,rre described in the health and safety plan. <br /> 5.2.2 Chemical!Exposure <br /> If a member of the field crew demonstrates symptoms of chemical exposure the <br /> procedures outlined below should be followed: <br /> • Another team. member (buddy) should remove the individual from the <br /> immediate area of contamination. The buddy should communicate to the <br /> Field Team Leader (via two-way radio or hand signals) of the chemical <br /> exposure. The Field Team Leader should contact the appropriate emergency <br /> response agency. <br /> E <br /> Precautions should be taken to avoid exposure of other individuals to the <br /> chemical. <br /> • If the chemical is on the individual's clothing, the chemical should be <br /> neutralized or removed if it is safe to do so. <br /> • If the chemical has contacted the skin, the skin should be washed with copious <br /> amounts of water. <br /> - In case of eye contact, an emergency eye wash should be used. Eyes should <br /> be washed for at least 15 minutes. <br /> • Ali chemical exposure incidents must be reported in writing to the Office <br /> i Health and Safety Representative. The Site Safety Officer or Field Team <br /> Leader is responsible for completing the accident report(see Appendix E). <br /> 5.2.3 Personal Injury <br /> In case of personal injury at the site, the following procedures should be <br /> followed: <br /> • Another team member (buddy) should signal the Field Team-Leader-(via - <br /> two-way radio or hand signals)that an injury has occurred. <br /> i' 5-2 <br />
