E
a
4Y
Tot,: J. MELL - TRAC]C
March 7.5, lggp
backhoe, soil samples wil]. be collected from the sides and
b-;ttom of the excavation. The backhoe will excavate the soil
sample materials from the pit to the surface to facilitate the
sample collection. The samples will be collected from
relatively non-disturbed soil materials remaining in the
backhoe bucket. Immediately upon the excavation of these
materials (in the backhoe bucket) to the surface, a clean 3-
inch (length) by 2--inch (diameter) brass sample tube will be
driver into these materials (using a clean wooden mallet) for
soil sample collection. TECC anticipates that eight to tern
soil samples should be collected from the excavation for
documentation. The depths and number of soils samples may vary
upon the request of the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services . and/or conditions- encountered in the field.
Upon recovery of the samples; they will be handled as outlined
.n the Sampling Protocol in Attachment 2. The samples will be
delivered to.a .State-certified laboratory, Anametricx, Inc.
(DHS Certification # 151) , located in S=in Jose, California.
Per State ""UFT" guidelines, the samples will be analyzed for:
,.
TPH as gasoline (EPA Method 5020 or 5030) ; BTEX and Chlorinated
Hydrocarbons." (EPA Method 8240) ; .Total `Oil and Grease (State
Method 503 D and E) ; EPA Method 8270; Chromium, .Lead, and Zinc
(ICRP or AA) . Unless otherwise specified by you, the samples
F A
will be submitted for normal ten, working-day results. If the
samples indicate that detectable levels of contaminants remain
in the soil materials, the excavation, monitoring, sampling and
laboratory procedures will continue
(as outlined above) ,
providing site--conditions -permit. This'`pj ocedure``shall
continue,.::until the contaminant levels remaining In the soils
are below detectable levels;
THE ENVIRONhI NTAL
`' CONSTRUCTION Co. 4
