lines that is above Corrective Action Levels (CAL) .
RECOMMENDATIONS
Install one, 4-inch diameter monitor well to a depth of
approximately 20 feet, as shown on the attached Figure 5
entitled "Monitor Well Location Map". Collect soil samples at
5-foot intervals, at li.thology changes and/or when visual or
Photoionization Detector (PID) readings indicate the
possibility of contamination. Because this well is nearest
the source of contamination it may be used as a product
recovery well.
2. Install, two, 2-inch diameter monitor wells to a depth of
approximately 20 feet, as shown on the attached Figure 5.
Collect soil samples at 5 foot intervals, at lithology
changes and/or when visual or PID readings indicate the
possibility of contamination.
3. Visually inspect the soils samples for hydrocarbon
contamination and screen the headspace for volatile organic
~ compounds (VOC's) of the samples using a HNu Photoionization
detector. Analyze at least one soil sample per well for TPH
(as gasoline)/BTEX (EPA Method 8015 & 8020) , Oil and Grease.
(Standard Method 503 D & E) and Purgeable Halocarbons (EPA
Method 8010.
4. Because hydrocarbon contamination usually follows the
direction of groundwater flow water levels must be taken.
Also the wells must be surveyed to. a common datum in order to
calculate elevations and establish a groundwater gradient map.
This groundwater gradient map will indicate the direction of
groundwater floTa.
5. Develop the three wells and collect samples 72 hours later.
6. Analyze the water samples for TPH(as gasoline)/BTEX (EPA
Method 8015 & 8020) , -oil and grease -(Standard-Method-503-D & -
E) , and Purgeaole Halocarbons (EPA Method 8010)
7. Provide a report of findings detailing the :Phase II soils and
groundwater asssessment and recommendations. for remedial
action.
LIMITATIONS
The conclusions and professional guidelines presented herein were
developed in accordance with generally accepted practices for
addressing UST investigations as outlined in the guidelines from
