M WON <br /> Job: J. MELL - TRACY <br /> March 15, 1990 <br /> SAMPLING PROTOCOL <br /> SOIL:; SAMPLING <br /> 1. All soils samples recovered fcr chemical analysis will be <br /> sampled, handled, and stored in accordance with Environmental <br /> Protection Agency and Regional Water Quality Control Board <br /> guidelines for the investigation of suspected underground storage <br /> tank leaks. <br /> 2. Prior to working at the site, the brass sample liners will be <br /> steam-cleaned or cleaned in soapy (TSP) water, rinsed withc lean <br /> tap water and finally rinsed with de-ionized water, and air- <br /> dried. Prior to using the backhoe for collecting the materials <br /> for sampling and chemical analysis, the backhoe bucket will be <br /> washed with TSP and rinsed with clean tan water. <br /> 3. The brass sample liner will be sufficiently driven into the <br /> soil materials to eliminate all head space in the liner. <br /> head space is observed in the liner, If no <br /> the samle liner will be <br /> properly sealed, labeled and identified pin its original liner. <br /> The ends of all the sample liners will be capped with aluminum <br /> foil, and sealed an place by clean plastic caps and aluminized <br /> duct tape. Included on the label will be the time and date <br /> sampled, and the project name. <br /> 4. All samples retained for chemical analysis. will be stored on <br /> ice in a clean, covered cooler-box for transport to the <br /> laboratory. Additional ice will Sap added as necessary, <br /> Duplicate samples (if any) will be refrigerated. <br /> 5. Samples will be delivered to the laboratory within three days <br /> of acquisition. <br /> &. Unless otherwise requested by the laboratory, no <br /> preservatives will be added to the samples. <br /> 7.
