SUMMARY OF OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVITIES PERFORMED DURING
THE PAST QUARTER
The direction of groundwater flow and hydraulic gradient
have been calculated for the September , 1994 sampling
event . Groundwater continues to flow to the northeast .
information regarding the methodology used to determine the
direction of flow and hydraulic gradient is presented in
Appendix B .
"'he soil storage piles maintained on site have been
recovered monitored to confirm that the polyethylene
sheeting covers remain intact , New sheeting has been
placed on the soil as necessary .
The soil storage piles were also sampled for certified
laboratory analyses on August 24 , 1994 at the direction of
Mr . Michael Infurna . The results of these analyses are to
be submitted in support of the application to bioremediate
the subject soil at the Pestana Trust property located
across Grant Line Road at 2360 East Street .
Each of the two discrete soil samples was acquired by
driving a 1 . 9 inch diameter by 6 . 0 inch long clean brass
tube into the soil until each tube was completely filled
with consolidated material . Upon being withdrawn from the
soil , the ends of each tube were covered with aluminum
foil , fitted with plastic caps , and sealed with duct tape .
Each tube was then marked and placed within an iced,
insulated container for transportation to Priority
Environmental Labs under chain of custody . certified
analyses were subsequently performed for Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons as as Diesel (TPH-D) using EPA Methods
3550/8015 , Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline
(TPH-G) , benzene , toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes
( BTEX) using EPA Methods 5030/8015-8020 , Oil and Grease
(TOG) using SM 5520 D&F, Halogenated Volatile Organics
(HVOs ) using EPA Method 8010 , and cadmium, chromium, lead,
nickel , and zinc using EPA Methods 7130 , 7190 , 7420 , 7520 ,
and 7950 , respectively . The results of these analyses are
summarized in the following table :
Pace 10
