Ga.N
Dear Mr Infurna•
As previously discussed , with the permission of Ms Mary
Meays of your office, EPM Technologies wishes to move
approximately 40 cubic yards of previously excavated,
hydrocarbon contaminated soil from the Pestana Trust
property at 275 Grant Lane Road, Tracy across the
intersection of Grant Line and East Streets to 2360 East
Street Moving the soil would permit us to treat it at a
location further from the apartment buildings located on
properties contiguous to the 275 Grant Lane site ,
The levels of hydrocarbon contamination in the general area
from which the excavated soil was removed has been explored
on two occasions an the recent past .
On the first of these occasion (September 30 -and October 1 ,
1993 ) , nine ( 9) soil borings were advanced along the
northern boundary of the 275 Grant Line site an order to
further define the extent of soil and shallow groundwater
contamination Each boring was advanced with a hand auger
Discrete soil samples and a grab water sample were acquired
from each borehole Each soil sample was collected within
a 1 9 inch diameter by 4 0 inch long clean brass sleeve
fitted within a drive sampler lowered into the borehole to
a point accessed by the hand auger Upon being retrieved,
the drive sampler was opened and the brass sleeve removed
The ends of each sleeve were then covered with teflon
sheeting/aluminum foal , fatted with plastic caps , and
sealed with duct tape Each tube was then marked and
+ placed an an aced, insulated container for transportation
1 .
