kn KLEINFELDER
t
5 RESULTS AND FINDINGS
' The following results includes data gathered during the monitoring well installation/soil
sampling operation, the monitoring well development and sampling activities, and the
' laboratory analyses of soil and ground water samples.
' 5.1 SOIL CHEMISTRY
1 Table 3 summarizes analytical results for the soil samples. These results indicate that TPH
and BTEX are not present in soil samples collected from MW-1, MW-2, and the two
shallow excavations (Tank Excavation A & B) The soil sample collected at 4 to 4 5 feet in
' MW-3 contained 3 1 mg/kg of ethyl benzene, 10.4 mg/kg of xylene, and 1,000 mg/kg of
TPH as gasoline Analytical results of the soil samples collected 2 to 2.5 feet in MW-3
' indicated BTEX compounds and TPH were not present. Since contamination is present in
the soil sample collected at 4 to 4 5 foot and not at 2 to 2 5 foot in MW-3, it appears that
the soil contamination may be due to a source below 2 5 feet, e g piping or a pipe
connection.
1 Analytical results indicate that inorganic lead was present at concentrations from 46 to 73
mg/kg in soil samples collected from the monitoring wells and the shallow excavations
' The concentration of lead detected in the soil samples from the subject site appear to be
fairly consistent. Lead in the background boring (MW-1) averaged 51 mg/kg, very close to
' the site average of 57 6. It appears that lead contamination has not impacted the site.
'
5.2 GROUND WATER CHEMISTRY
' Table 4 presents a summary of the analytical data. These analytical results indicate that
BTEX and TPH are not present in ground water samples collected from MW-1 and MW-2.
Analytical results of a ground water sample collected from MW-3 indicated 6 3 ug/l of
' xylene was present and the concentration of TPH as gasoline was 430 ug/1
' Ethylene dibromide was not detected in ground water samples from MW-2, but a
concentrations of 012 ug/1 was detected in the ground water sample from MW-3 This
analyses was not performed on the ground water sample from MW-1.
' 145-88-2013 7
