09/12/97 16:41 7!7/GS1-Si-CT0 - 12094640138 D06
0 •
GeoStrategies
WORK PLAN FOR SOIL BORING
AND MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
at
Unocal. Station No. 6991
4707 Pacific Avenue
Stockton, California
Report No. 7855.21-1
INTRODUCTION
At the request of Tosco Marketing Company (Tosco), GeoStrategies (GSI) has prepared
this Work Plan to install one groundwater monitoring well and drill one exploratory soil'
boring at the subject site (figure I). The proposed scope of work includes: obtaining the
.necessary well installation permits from San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Division (SJCEHD); preparing a site safety plan; drilling two soil borings and installing
a groundwater monitoring well in one of the borings; collecting soil samples for possible
analysis; surveying the well casing elevation; developing and sampling the newly installed
well and collecting a groundwater sample; and preparing a report which presents the
findings of the investigation. In addition, GSI will attempt to locate well MW-11,
reportedly paved over during the recent reconstruction of the intersection of Pacific Avenue
and March Lane, and will add oxygen.releasing compound(ORC) to well MW-2. GSI will
continue to operate the vapor extraction system (VES), and MPDS Services Inc. (MPDS)
will continue.to monitor and sample the wells on a quarterly basis.
This Work Plan was prepared in response to a letter from SJCEHD (dated August 13,
1997) requesting a Work Plan for additional work at the site. The scope of work described
in this report is intended to comply with the State of California Water Resources Control
Board's Leaking Underground Fuel Tanks (LUIT) Manual and California Underground
Storage Tank Regulations, 1994, the California Regional Water Quality Control Board
(CRWQCB) Tri-Regional Board Stgff Recomwndations for Preliminary investigation and
Evaluation of Underground Tank Sites, and SJCEHD guidelines.
7855,21-1
3164 Gold Camp Drive, Suite 240 Rancho Cordova, CA 96670 (916) 631-1374 Fax (916) 631-1317
