Third Quarter 1998 VES Report, Tosco 76 Branded Station No. 6981, 4707
Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California.
Mr Ralston
This report summarizes the sampling and operational data for the vapor extraction system (VES) at
the subject site from July through September, 1998 The VES operates under San Joaquin Valley
Unified Air Pollution Control District Permit N-3335-2-0 Location of the subject site is shown on
• Figure I The current station configuration is shown on Figure 2
Third Quarter 1998 Activities
Field activities related to the operation and maintenance of the VES conducted at the subject site
during the third quarter 1998 are discussed below Gettler-Ryan Inc (GR) Field Methods and
Procedures are attached
Since the influent concentrations are relatively low, the VES is being pulsed to evaluate whether the
influent concentrations will increase Between June 30 and September 30, 1998, the VES operated
approximately 1,104 hours (46 0 days), or 50 0% of the time GR monitored the system on a bi-
weekly basis, and collected influent and effluent vapor stream samples on July 30, August 27, and
September 30, 1998 These samples were analyzed for TPHg and BTEX at Sequoia Analytical in
Redwood City, California (ELAP #1210) Copies of the laboratory reports and chain-of-custody
documents are attached
Soil vapor was extracted from wells VW-2, VW-4, and VW-5 during the third quarter 1998, as field
monitoring indicated these wells had the highest hydrocarbon concentrations During the third
quarter 1998, the VES extracted and treated approximately 222 pounds of TPHg and I pound of
benzene Since installation in September 1994, the VES has extracted and treated approximately
14,222 pounds of TPHg and 174 pounds of benzene VES analytical data for the quarter are
summarized in Table 1, and operational data are summarized in Table 2
140124 04
6747 Sierra Court , Suite J e Dublin , California 94568 a ( 925 ) 551 - 7555
