6ETTLER - RYAN <br /> t <br /> July 29, 1998 <br /> Mr Ed Ralston <br /> Tosco Marketing Company <br /> Environmental Compliance Department <br /> 1380 Lead Hill Road, Suite 120 <br /> Roseville, CA 95661 <br /> I <br /> Subject Second Quarter 1998 VES Report, Tosca 76 Branded Station No. 6981, 4707 <br /> Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California. <br /> 5 <br /> Mr Ralston <br /> This report summarizes the sampling and,operational data for the vapor extraction system (VES) <br /> at the subject site from January through June, 1997 The VES operates under San Joaquin Valley <br /> Unified Air Pollution Control District Permit N-3335-2-0 Location of the subject site is shown <br /> on Figure 1 The current station configuration is shown on Figure 2 <br /> • Second Quarter 1998 Activities <br /> Field activities related to the operation and maintenance of the VES conducted at the subject site <br /> during the first quarter 1998 are discussed below Gettler-Ryan Inc (GR) Field Methods and <br /> Procedures are attached <br /> Between March 25 and June 30, 1998, the VES operated approximately 2,045 hours (85 2 days), <br /> or 87 8% of the time GR monitored the system on a bi-weekly basis, and collected influent and <br /> effluent vapor stream samples on April 20, May 27, and June 30, 1998 These samples were <br /> analyzed for TPHg and BTEX at Sequoia Analytical in Redwood City, California (FLAP #1210) <br /> Copies of the laboratory reports and chain-of-custody documents are attached <br /> Soil vapor was extracted from wells VW-2,VW-4, and VW-5 during the first quarter 1998, as field <br /> monitoting indicated these wells had the highest hydrocarbon concentrations During the second <br /> quarter 1998, the VES extracted and treated approximately 566 pounds of TPHg and <1 pound <br /> of benzene Since installation in September 1994, the VES has extracted and treated approximately <br /> 14,000 pounds of TPHg and 173 pounds of benzene VES analytical data for the quarter are <br /> sunnivarized in Table 1, and operational data are summarized in Table 2 <br /> Hydrocarbons were detected in all three of the effluent airstream sample collected during the second <br /> quarter 1998 Concentrations of TPHg ranged from 12 to 17 ppm However, these concentrations <br /> are within the permit requirement of 95% or greater destruction efficiency or <2 pounds per day <br /> (lb /day) emission rate VES emission rates for TPHg ranged from 0 6 to 1 0 lb /day <br /> r� r <br /> 140124 04 <br /> r 6747 Sierra Court , Suite J Dublin , California 94568 ( 5 10 ) 551 - 7555 <br />
