Third Quarter 1999 VES Report, Tosco 76 Branded Station No. 6981, 4707 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, <br /> California <br /> Mr Ralston <br /> This report summarizes the sampling and operational data for the vapor extraction system(VES)at the subject site from July <br /> through September, 1999 The VES operates under San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District(SJVUAPCD) <br /> Permit N-3335-2-0 On June 1, 1999, Getticr-Ryan Inc (GR)submitted a request to the SJVUAPCD to extend this permit <br /> through the year 2001 Location of the subject site is shown on Figure 1 The current station configuration is shown on <br /> Figure 2 GR sampling procedures are attached <br /> Continuous VES operation was stopped on November 3, 1998,due to low influent concentrations,but has operated in"pulse" <br /> mode since Between June 21 and September 20, 1999, the VES operated approximately 672 hours (28 0 days), or 31% <br /> of the time GR monitored the system and collected influent and effluent vapor stream samples on July 27, August 22 and <br /> 24, and September 16 and 20, 1999 Samples were analyzed for TPHg and BTEX at Sequoia Analytical (FLAP#127 1) <br /> In addition, the influent samples were analyzed for MtBE Copies of the laboratory reports and chain-of-custody documents <br /> are attached <br /> Soil vapor was extracted from all vapor wells when pulsed during the third quarter 1999, except between September 18 and <br /> 20, 1999, when only wells VW-1, VW-3 and VW-6 were used Hydrocarbons were detected in all effluent airstream <br /> samples Effluent concentrations of TPHg ranged from 7 to 14 parts per million vapor However, during the third quarter <br /> 1999 operational period, the VES operated within the permit requirement of 95% or greater destruction efficiency or <2 <br /> pounds TPHg per day(lb/day)emission rate VES destruction efficiencies during this period ranged from 5 36%to 98 89% <br /> Emission rates for TPHg ranged from 0 4 to 0 8 lb/day During the third quarter 1999, the VES extracted and treated <br /> approximately 145 pounds of TPHg and 3 pound of benzene Since installation in September 1994, the VES has extracted <br /> and treated approximately 14,587 pounds of TPHg and 180 pounds of benzene VES analytical data for the quarter are <br /> summarized in Table 1, and operational data are summarized in Table 2 <br /> If you have questions, please call us in Sacramento at (916) 631-1300 <br /> Sincerely, <br /> Gettler-Ryan Inc. <br /> e <br /> Stephen J Cart , R G <br /> Senior Geologist <br /> Attachments Table 1 _ Summary of VES Chemical Analytical Data <br /> Table 2 - Summary of VES Operation <br /> • Figure 1 Vicinity Map <br /> Figure 2 Site Plan <br /> Field Methods and Procedures <br /> VES Chemical Analytical Data and Chain-of-Custody Forms <br /> 6747 Sierra Court , Suite J o Dublin , California 94568 ( 925 ) 551 - 7555 <br /> 140124 04 <br />
