Third Quarter 1999 VES Report, Tosco 76 Branded Station No. 6981, 4707 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California Mr Ralston This report summarizes the sampling and operational data for the vapor extraction system(VES)at the subject site from July through September, 1999 The VES operates under San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District(SJVUAPCD) Permit N-3335-2-0 On June 1, 1999, Getticr-Ryan Inc (GR)submitted a request to the SJVUAPCD to extend this permit through the year 2001 Location of the subject site is shown on Figure 1 The current station configuration is shown on Figure 2 GR sampling procedures are attached Continuous VES operation was stopped on November 3, 1998,due to low influent concentrations,but has operated in"pulse" mode since Between June 21 and September 20, 1999, the VES operated approximately 672 hours (28 0 days), or 31% of the time GR monitored the system and collected influent and effluent vapor stream samples on July 27, August 22 and 24, and September 16 and 20, 1999 Samples were analyzed for TPHg and BTEX at Sequoia Analytical (FLAP#127 1) In addition, the influent samples were analyzed for MtBE Copies of the laboratory reports and chain-of-custody documents are attached Soil vapor was extracted from all vapor wells when pulsed during the third quarter 1999, except between September 18 and 20, 1999, when only wells VW-1, VW-3 and VW-6 were used Hydrocarbons were detected in all effluent airstream samples Effluent concentrations of TPHg ranged from 7 to 14 parts per million vapor However, during the third quarter 1999 operational period, the VES operated within the permit requirement of 95% or greater destruction efficiency or <2 pounds TPHg per day(lb/day)emission rate VES destruction efficiencies during this period ranged from 5 36%to 98 89% Emission rates for TPHg ranged from 0 4 to 0 8 lb/day During the third quarter 1999, the VES extracted and treated approximately 145 pounds of TPHg and 3 pound of benzene Since installation in September 1994, the VES has extracted and treated approximately 14,587 pounds of TPHg and 180 pounds of benzene VES analytical data for the quarter are summarized in Table 1, and operational data are summarized in Table 2 If you have questions, please call us in Sacramento at (916) 631-1300 Sincerely, Gettler-Ryan Inc. e Stephen J Cart , R G Senior Geologist Attachments Table 1 _ Summary of VES Chemical Analytical Data Table 2 - Summary of VES Operation • Figure 1 Vicinity Map Figure 2 Site Plan Field Methods and Procedures VES Chemical Analytical Data and Chain-of-Custody Forms 6747 Sierra Court , Suite J o Dublin , California 94568 ( 925 ) 551 - 7555 140124 04
