Mr Ralston This report summarizes the sampling and operational data for the vapor extraction system(VES) at the subject site from January through March, 2001 The VES operates under San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District (SJVUAPCD) Permit N-3335-2-0 Location of the subject site is shown on Figure 1 All aboveground and underground facilities associated with the former station except for the VES were removed during the second quarter 2000 The former station configuration is shown on Figure 2 GR sampling procedures are attached I� Continuous VES operation was stopped on November 3, 1998,due to low influent concentrations,but has operated in"pulse" mode since The VES was not operated in April through July 2000 due to station demolition activities and re-routmg of the VES electrical line Pulse mode operation resumed on August 16, 2000 Between January 23 and 31, 2001, the VES was "pulsed" one time for approximately 107 hours (4 5 days) On amval at the site on January 31, 2001, the fan belt was broken and the system had shut down On returning to the site in February 23,2001,the blower was found to be seized and the system could not be started The blower has been removed and shipped to Torrence, CA for repair The VES did not operated during the remainder of the quarter VES samples were collected once (January 23, 2001) Influent and effluent samples were analyzed for TPHg and BTEX at Sequoia Analytical (FLAP #1624) In addition, the influent samples were analyzed for MtBE Copies of the laboratory report and chain-of-custody document are attached Soil vapor was extracted from all vapor wells when pulsed during the first quarter 2001 Hydrocarbons were not detected to either of the influent or effluent airstream samples During the first quarter 2001 operational period,the VES operated within the permit requirement of 95% or greater destruction efficiency or <2 pounds TPHg per day(lb/day)emission rate VES destruction efficiencies during this period were 100% Emission rates for TPHg were <0 21 lb/day During the first quarter 2001, the VES extracted and treated <0 10 pounds of TPHg and <0 001 pound of benzene Since installation in September 1994,the VES has extracted and treated approximately 14,794 pounds of TPHg and 183 pounds of benzene VES analytical data for the quarter are summarized in Table 1, and operational data are summarized in Table 2 t. 6747 Sierra Court , Suite J • Dublin , California 94568 ( 925 ) 551 - 7555 MU ria
