t <br /> r � <br /> rGETTLER - RYAN• <br /> INC. <br /> 7��S <br /> January 18, 2001 <br /> Mr Ed Ralston <br /> Tosco Marketing Company <br /> Environmental Compliance Department <br /> 1380 Lead Hill Road, Suite 120 <br /> Roseville, CA 95661 <br /> Subject Fourth Quarter 2000 VES Report, Former Tosco 76 Branded Station No 6981, 4707 Pacific Avenue, <br /> Stockton, California. <br /> Mr Ralston <br /> This report summarizes the sampling and operational data for the vapor extraction system (VES) at the subject site from <br /> October through December, 2000 The VES operates under San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District <br /> (SJVUAPCD) Permit N-3335-2-0 Location of the subject site is shown on Figure 1 All aboveground and underground <br /> facilities associated with the former station except for the VES were removed during the second quarter 2000 The former <br /> station configuration is shown on Figure 2 GR sampling procedures are attached <br /> iContinuous VES operation was stopped on November 3, 1998,due to low influent concentrations,but has operated in"pulse" <br /> mode since The VES was not operated in April through July 2000 due to station demolition activities and re-routing of the <br /> VES electrical line Pulse mode operation resumed on August 16, 2000 <br /> Between September 28 and December 21,2000, the VES was "pulsed" three times for approximately 337 hours(14 0 days) <br /> The hour meter appears to have functioned normally during the October "pulse"event,but as a precaution was replaced prior <br /> to the November event VES samples were collected on six different occasions (October 25 and 30, November 28, and <br /> December 1, 15 and 21, 2000) Influent and effluent samples were analyzed for TPHg and BTEX at Sequoia Analytical <br /> (ELAP#1271 and 12360) In addition,the influent samples were analyzed for MtBE Copies of the laboratory reports and <br /> chain-of-custody documents are attached <br /> Soil vapor was extracted from all vapor wells when pulsed during the fourth quarter 2000 Hydrocarbons were detected in <br /> one of the six effluent airstream samples Effluent concentrations of TPHg ranged from <2 0 to 24 6 milligrams per cubic <br /> meter(mg/m3) During the fourth quarter 2000 operational period, the VES operated within the permit requirement of 95% <br /> or greater destruction efficiency or <2 pounds TPHg per day (lb/day) emission rate VES destruction efficiencies during <br /> this period ranged from 9160% to X99 00% Emission rates for TPHg ranged from <0 04 to 0 7 lb/day During the <br /> fourth quarter 2000, the VES. extracted and treated approximately 36 pounds of TPHg and <1 pound of benzene Since <br /> installation in September 1994, the VES has extracted and treated approximately 14,794 pounds of TPHg and 183 pounds <br /> of benzene VES analytical data for the quarter are summarized in Table 1,and operational data are summarized in Table 2 <br /> 6747 Sierra Court , Suite J o Dublin , California 94568 a ( 925 ) 551 - 7555 <br /> 140124 04 <br />
