GETTLER - RYAN I <br /> August 29, 2000 <br /> Mr Ed Ralston <br /> Tosco Marketing Company <br /> 1380 Lead Hill Road <br /> Roseville,CA 95661 <br /> Subject: Soil Sampling During Station Demolition at Tosco (Former Unocal) <br /> Service Station #6981,4707 Pacific Avenue,Stockton,California. <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> At the request of Tosco Marketing Company(Tosco), Gettler-Ryan Inc (GR) has prepared this report for <br /> soil sampling following removal of underground storage tanks (USTs), product piping, and product <br /> dispensers at the subject site(Figure 1) This work was performed as part of station demolition activities at <br /> the site The USTs, piping, and product dispensers were removed by Tosco's contractor, who obtained the <br /> necessary permits from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services-Environmental Health Division <br /> (SJCPHS-EHD) and other agencies, as required GR collected compliance samples from the UST pit, <br /> product piping trenches, and from beneath the removed product dispensers as required by the State of <br /> California Water Resources Control Board's Leaking Underground Fuel Tanks (LUF7) Manual, the <br /> California Regional Water Quality Control Board's(RWQCB) Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations <br /> for Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation of Underground Tank Sites, and SJCPHS-EHD guidelines <br /> Compliance sampling protocol was detailed in GR's Work Plan For Soil Sampling Following Underground <br /> Storage Tank(US7), Product Piping, and Product Dispenser Removal At Tosco (Former Unocal) Service <br /> Station #6981, 4707 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California (Report No 140124 07) dated March 7, 2000 <br /> This work plan was approved in a letter from the SJCPHS-EHD dated April 6,2000 <br /> SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The site is a former 76 service station located on the northwest corner of the intersection of Pacific Avenue <br /> and March Lane (Figure 2) The site is bounded to the north and west by an asphalt-paved parking lot, to <br /> the east by Pacific Avenue, and to the south by March Lane Properties in the general site vicinity are <br /> developed for commercial purposes Local topography is flat lying,with an elevation of approximately 13 <br /> feet above mean seal level(MSL) <br /> PREVIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVITIES <br /> In May and June 1988, RESNA Industries collected soil samples during replacement of the USTs and <br /> from test pits excavated adjacent to the product dispenser islands Petroleum hydrocarbons were <br /> 140124 07 <br /> 6747 Sierra Court , Suite J a Dublin , California 94568 • ( 925 ) 551 -7555 <br />
