HYD
ENVI MAL
TECH LOOM,INC.
5.0 SUMMARY OF RESULTS
Beginning in. March of 1993, HETI has worked under contract for Canandaigua
Wine Company for the purpose of conducting a limited investigation of the parcel
of property immediately north of the winery. The following is a summary of results
of this investigation:
According t o PACE Labs di-n-but.1 hthalate is often associated with
• y p
contamination during sample handling. Latex gloves are a common source of
1 this contaminant. The fact that. the laboratory method blank contained -the
highest concentration of this compound suggests that lab sample handling may
be associated with its presence. A PACE letter to "this effect is included in
Appendix F..
• Piles of construction debris_are present in several locations on the site.
C i was possible to identify the contents of the piles on the surface, it
Although t p y
was not possible to determine what materials are present in :the interior of the
piles.
C • The 5 ppm OVM reading measured in--the sample collected from MW-4 is
i possibly associated with naturally occuring subsurface gasses (from organic
decomposure, etc.). A '5 ppm reading. is considered to be low on the range of
OVM scales, and is usually not a cause for concern.
• Soil and water samples were collected during the installation of five monitoring
wells at the site.
• Analytical results indicate that di-n-butylphthalate and various metals were the
only compounds present which exceeded the laboratory method detection limits.
• None of the metals were detected in concentrations exceeding regulatory limits
P g P
provided in California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 4, Chapter 30,
7
