1 .0 INTRODUCTION <br /> 1 .1 Site Information <br /> SMS Briners, Inc. and Kruger Foods Inc. are brining and food processing facilities located <br /> approximately 9 miles east of the Farmington exit off of Highway 99 in Stockton, California, <br /> in Section 22 of Township 1 North and Range 8 East on the USGS 7.5 Minute PETERS <br /> Quadrangle(Figure 1-1). The physical addresses for the SMS Briners and Kruger Foods <br /> facilities are: <br /> SMS Briners, Inc. Kruger Foods, Inc. <br /> 18362 East Highway 4 17750 East Highway 4 <br /> Stockton, CA 95215 Stockton, CA 95215 <br /> The Kruger Foods facility is located immediately north of the SMS Briners facility. Both <br /> facilities are surrounded by agricultural fields, and the southern property line of SMS Briners <br /> is defined by the North Fork of Littlejohns Creek(Littlejohn Creek). Kruger Foods, Inc. is <br /> the owner of the SMS Briners facility. <br /> 1.2 Background <br /> Luhdorff and Scalmanini, Consulting Engineers (LSCE)have prepared this report <br /> Groundwater Corrective Action Measures, on behalf of Kruger Foods, Inc. and SMS Briners, <br /> Inc. in response to the Regional Water Quality Control Board's (RWQCB)Revised Waste <br /> Discharge Requirements, Kruger Foods—SMS Briners, San Joaquin County, Order Number <br /> R5-2004-0157, adopted October 15, 2004 (RWQCB, 2004a) (WDRs) <br /> 1.3 Report Organization <br /> This report includes background discussion on hydrogeologic characterization of the area in <br /> the vicinity of the SMS Briners facility, including wastewater and groundwater quality <br /> (Section 2 and 3). Following the background discussion, the corrective action measures <br /> program comprised of the evaluation monitoring program, groundwater extraction and <br /> capture zone analyses, and corrective action monitoring is discussed in Sections 4 through 6, <br /> followed by the schedule of implementation of corrective action measures in Section 7.
