- S E M c o
ENVIRONMENTAL & GENERAL ENGINEERING CONTRACTOR
License No. 449864 A, B, C61/D40; Hazardous Substance Certification
1217 S. 7th Street, Modesto, California 95351-9401
(209)524--9653 / FAX (209)524-0503
February 22, 1995
.T
Mr. Bill Benner
City of Tracy
520 Tracy Blvd.
Tracy, CA 95376
C?
Subject: 1000 Gallon Tank Disposition
Location: Tracy Fire Station #2-301 Grantline Road, Tracy, CA 95367 Ta
Dear Bill,
On October 26, 1989 SEMCO removed one (1 ) 1,000 underground petroleum storage
tank from Tracy Fire Station #2 located at 301 Grantline Road, Tracy, CA. Our files for
1989 regarding your job have been misplaced however, I am personally aware of our
practices relative to tank disposal at the time of removal from the subject location.
Tanks removed from San Joaquin County were "triple rinsed" onsite in preparation for
transportation and disposal as non hazardous "prepared scrap metal". In reviewing this
file it is my understanding that San Joaquin County Public Health Services were not
requiring formal "tank tracking documents" at that time. Our written work plan included
the fate of the removed U.S.T. It was our practice at that time to gather and ship
multiple tanks per load to the designated metal recyclers. The system currently in place
provides a more efficient way of tracking removed U.S.T.'s.
To the best of my knowledge the tank was removed from Tracy Fire Station #2 and was
processed in accordance with the approved tank removal workplan. We are continuing to
search for the original file and when located all documentation will be forwarded to you
and San Joaquin Public Health Services for your respective files.
We have also contacted the hazardous waste carrier (Allied Petroleum) and requested a
copy of the rinsate receipt or manifest for that location. My apologies for the
inconvenience caused to all concerned. I hope this letter will serve as an interim
document for the disposal of the subject tank.
If I can be of further assistance please contact me at (209) 524-9653.
Sinc rely yours,
Tjj';t:d"',k,—
Richard C. Hamilton
SEMCO
