HUNICI--IEINII
Mr. Bill Vizza
30 November 1993
Page 6
slight in magnitude and are likely due to outside influences, such as local groundwater
pumping and irrigation activities. Calculated groundwater flow directions and flow
gradients are illustrated in Figure 1.
Results of Laboratory Anal ses
Soil Analyses
Each groundwater sample submitted was analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as
diesel (TPH-D) using EPA Method 8015 modified and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and
total xylenes (BTEX) using EPA Method 602
Laboratory analyses of soil samples are summarized in Table 2 and indicate that petroleum
hydrocarbons and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes were not detected at
concentrations greater than their method detection limits in the soil samples collected
from MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3.
Groundwater Analyses
. Each groundwater sample was submitted for analysis of total petroleum hydrocarbons as
diesel using EPA Method 8015 modified and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total
xylenes using EPA Method 8020.
Laboratory analyses of groundwater samples are summarized in Table 3 and indicate that
petroleum hydrocarbons and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes were not
detected at concentrations greater than their method detection limits in the soil samples
collected from MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes
were not detected at concentrations greater than their method detection limits in either
soil samples collected immediately above the groundwater surface or groundwater samples
collected at locations upgrad►ent and downgradient of the former underground tank
location. These results support City of Tracy records indicating that UST system piping
leakage discovered as a result of a failed UST integrity test was confined to a vent pipe
connection which was above the normal UST product level.
City of Tracy records indicate that soil impacted by leakage of approximately 0 2 gallons
of diesel product during the UST integrity testing was excavated and properly treated.
• Following soil excavation activities, it is reported that water was noted to accumulate
within the excavated area. As sample of water within the excavation is reported to have
