%use ..
r
November 2 , 1987
' r -
i
Ms. Kellie Reichenberg
REYNOLDS AND BROV►TN
6601 Owens Drive
Pleasanton, CA 94566
Subject: Groundwater Quality Evaluation at Property
Located at 724 Grant Line Road, Tracy, CA.
Dear Ms_ Reichenberg:
In accordance with your request, Aqua Terra
Technologies, Inc. has evaluated groundwater quality at
property located at 724 Grant Line Road, Tracy,
California, hereafter referred to as the Tracy property_
Our groundwater quality evaluation was based on review
qua Terra Technologies of the Kennedy/Jenks/Chilton Engineers report, dated
an-ulting £npneers January 26, 1987 ; the Applied Geosystems report, dated
cirntiSLE - August 26, 1987 ; and our site visit, sampling, and
analysis of groundwater for suspected contaminants.
930 Buskin A%rnue Kennedy/Jenks/Chilton Investigation
Brite 120
shut Creel. Ga Kennedy/Jenks/Chilton (KJC) conducted an assessment of
4596 two underground fuel storage tanks located at the Tracy
15934-4884 property. The KJC study was comprised of locating the
tanks using- ground penetrating radar, sampling and
analysis of three soil borings, and construction and
sampling of one monitoring well located down gradient to
the fuel tanks. Soil and groundwater samples were
collected and analyzed according to approved methodology
established by the California Department of Health
Services (DHS) . The monitoring well was--j,-onstructed
according to procedures established by the State Water
Resources Control Board and the DHS in the Site
Mitigation Decision Tree (May, 1986) . Results of the -
KJC study indicated 13-43 ppb (ug/Kg) of toluene in soil
and no detectable levels of benzene, toluene, or xylene
in groundwater at detection levels down to <1 ug/L. The
Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Practical
Quantification Limits (PQL) of benzene, toluene, and
xylene is 2, 2, and 5 ug/L respectively. ;Appendix IX;
52 FR 25946, July 9, 1987) .
EPA has defined the PQLs, "as the lowest -concentrations
of analyses in groundwater that can be reliably
determined within specified limits of precision and
accuracy by the indicated methods under routine
laboratory operating conditions . "
