The
-. plan was approved by SJC/EHD.
Clayton was retained by OSH to complete the following tasks-
- install five boreholes around MW-3B
- Quarterly groundwater sampling of MW-3B
• Excavate a second septic tank
# These tasks were documented in our report,Additional Soil and Groundwater
Investigation for Orchard Supply Hardware, dated May 21, 1991, and are summarized in
the following subsections.
r., 6.1 INSTALLATION OF BOREHOLES AROUND MW-311
Installation and sampling of five boreholes (BH-1, BH-2, BH-3, BH-4, and BH-5) was
performed on April 5, 1991. The borehole installation was observed by Ms. Hinson.
Borehole locations were selected to better define the extent of shallow soil
i= contamination in the vicinity of monitoring well MW-313 and the leach line from
former septic tank #1 (Figure 5). This septic tank was removed by Clayton or.August
17, 1990.
Soil samples were collected from 4 feet and 9 feet bgs. They were analyzed for
1` "^ hydrocarbons by EPA Method 5520F. Hydrocarbons were not detected in any of the
soil samples collected from the boreholes.
' 6.2 SEPTIC TANK#2 REMOVAL,
i Clayton Obtained a permit for septic tank #2 destruction from San Joaquin County
i Public Health Services.'Septic tank #2 was originally used by Grantline Station (a
tavern),located at 8885 W. Grantline Road. Granite Construction was performing road construction work nearby. During
exploratory excavation to locate septic tank #2, a representative of Granite
j- Construction informed Clayton that they had destroyed the septic tank during recent
construction to widen MacArthur Drive. Fuel Oil Polishing excavated the area of the
_. - -
f septic tank to confirin its destruction
Mr. Gregory Olivera, San Josquin County Public Health Services, Environmental
I Health Specialist; observed field activity and stated that, based on the findings, the
. f
6. septic tank issue could be officially closed.
10
ssoo•oG.p
llilill(f
