CIayton
 40 LAflTS?RY . r"sTs
41 PURPOSE AND SCOPE
Borehole locations were selected to better define the extent of shallow soil
contaminatior in the vicinity at monitoring well MW-313 and the leach line from
former septic tank #1 (Figure 2) This septic tank was removed by Clayton on August
17, 1990
The borehole soil samples were analyzed for suspected chemical constituents by
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 5520 E and F for oil and grease
In addition, the soil srmple from the 4-foot interval in monitoring well MW-3B was
reanalyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as diesel, total oil and grease and,
hydrocarbons This task was conducted to better quantify the potential leachability of
the hydrocarbon constitutes, at the request of Ms Hinson.
Clayton conducted a quarterly water sampling on May 2, 1991. This task was
conducted to assess groundwater for possible contamination from the hydrocarbons
detected in the surrounding soils
The groundwater samples were analyzed by the following methods.
EPA Method 503018015-8020 for gasoline fuel and the volatile hydrocarbons,
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes
1' • EPA Method 3510/8015 for total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel fuel
• EPA Method 418.1 for total recoverable petroleum hydrocarbons
° o Standard Method 5520 B and F for total petroleum hydrocarbons
All samples were transported to Clayton's laboratory under chain-of-custody These
forms are included in Appendix E with the analytical results
f
} 4.2 SOIL SAMPLE ANALYSES
r
Total recoverable hydrocarbons were not detected in soil samples collected from the
boreholes (BH-1, BH-2, BH-3, BH-4, and BH-5) Reanalysis of the soil sample from
the 4-foot interval in MW-313 revealed 3 parts per mullion (ppm) diesel, 280 ppm
hydrocarbons and 660 ppm total oil and grease The laboratory analyses report is
included as Appendix E.
-3-
J
