Clayton
T\-4l F-) hifrt5l
.... (nrS1175r 1,
Encutive SUM=
w
Clayton Environmental Consultants, Inc. was retained by Orchard Supply Hardware
(OSH) to install one monitoring well to sample and analyze soil and groundwater at
the northeast corner of MacArthur Drive and Grant Line Road in Tracy, California
(Figure 1). Mr. Michael D La Tourette authorized this protect on November 29,
1990, by accepting Clayton's Proposal No. 90-B-281 and its accompanying terms and
conditions.
i
The fallowing tasks were performed at the property site-
(1) Installed groundwater monitormg well, MW-3B, sampled and analyzed soil and
groundwater
(2) Proper abandonment of monitoring well MW-3
(3) Proper abandonment of a domestic water well
r _
(4) Quarterly sampling all monitoring wells onsite
Based on the results of the work outlined above,we make the following conclusions
and recommendations•
i
• Concentrations of hydrocarbons in the water samples collected from MW-1, MW-2
and MW-313 were below detection levels.
o The newly installed monitoring well MW-313 detected 770 mg/kg total recoverable
hydrocarbons in soils at 4 feet bgs, and 20 mg/kg at 9 feet A limited shallow soil
bonng program to define the horizontal and vertical extent of contamination may
- be required by the SJCPHS along the abandoned leach line.
Although the soil sample from MW-3B @ 4 feet exceeds the LUFT manual
guidelines for petroleum hydrocarbon contammation of shallow soils, concentrations
of hydrocarbons in the water samples collected from MW-3B are below detection
levels Clayton recommends that semiannual groundwater monitoring of monitoring
well MW-3B be conducted at the site for one year to monitor any changes.
E
3
 s
