Weber Avenue, Third Floor <br /> Stockton, California 95202 <br /> Subject: Summary of Well Destruction and Request for Final Letter of Closure <br /> 7-Eleven Store No. 20304 <br /> 455 Grant Line Road <br /> Tracy, California <br /> Site Code: 1409 <br /> Dear Mr. Knoll: <br /> IT Corporation submits this letter to summarize well destruction activities conducted on October 11 and 12, <br /> 1999 at the subject site. The work scope included destroying the remaining nine groundwater monitoring <br /> wells and two groundwater extraction wells (Figures 1 and 2,Attachment 1). All work was conducted in <br /> accordance with State of California Water Well Standards, Bulletin 74-90, Part III Section 19 for destruction <br /> of monitoring wells, and in accordance with San Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJCPHS) <br /> requirements. <br /> The wells were destroyed following a letter from the SJCPHS dated August 18, 1999, and a letter of <br /> concurrence from the Regional Water Quality Control Board - Central Valley Region (RWQCB-CVR)dated <br /> September 23, 1999, granting site closure status in regard to the fuel hydrocarbon release from the former <br /> underground storage tanks at the site. This report completes all environmental activities for this site <br /> associated with the former underground storage tank release. Permits for the well destruction were applied <br /> for and obtained from the SJCPHS. An encroachment permit for the destruction of well MW-11 and <br /> MW-15 located on Buthmann Avenue were applied for and obtained from the City of Tracy Engineering <br /> Services. Part of the well destruction activities was witnessed by Mr. Harlin Knoll of the SJCPHS. <br /> Wel! Destruction <br /> On October 11 and 12, 1999, IT Corporation personnel supervised the destruction of the remaining nine <br /> groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-6, MW-11, MW-15, and MW-16) and two groundwater <br /> extraction wells (GWE-1 and GWE-2) at the site. Prior to well destruction, each well was gauged for total <br /> depth and cleared of any obstructions. <br /> The wells were destroyed by pressure grouting. The well casings were grouted with Portland cement using <br /> a 1-inch diameter tremie pipe. Following placement of the grout inside the well casing, approximately <br /> 26304DES.LTR <br />
