Nk., 1/
Bob Vasques
Page 2
Soil contamination detected during the installation of P-8 (16 ppm TPH-gasoline)
suggests that the former gas pump island may have contributed to soil contamination.
Furthermore, soil results from MW1 (1,100 ppm TPH-gas) and P4 (1,400 ppm TPH-
gasoline) near the dry well suggest that the dry well may have acted as a conduit
facilitating the migration of contamination. Finally, the possible effects of mass loading,
which may have been caused by the presence of free product, is unknown. Please submit
by April 30, 1993 an additional addendum addressing soil contamination remediation.
The RAP indicated that a groundwater extraction well would be installed. Please submit
by March 1, 1993 a work plan to install the proposed groundwater extraction well. It is
essential that remediation begin as soon as possible and delays should be avoided.
Proceed with efforts to obtain a WDP and/or NPDES permit from the CVRWQCB and
a building permit from the City of Tracy.
Please continue groundwater monitoring and quarterly reporting. The last groundwater
sampling event occurred on December 28, 1992. Please make efforts to submit quarterly
reports within 30 days of the date of sampling.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Mary Meays, REHS, of my staff
at (209) 468-0337.
Jogi Khanna, M.D., M.P.H.
Health Officer
Laurie A.
