l
Work Plan for Groundwater Extraction Well Installation 3
The Southland Corporation,455 Grant Line Road,Tracy,CA April 12,19%
placed in DOT-approved 55-gallon drums pending treatment through the existing groundwater
remediation system .
At least 48 hours after development, the groundwater extraction well will be gauged to measure static
liquid levels. Liquid levels will be monitored using an ORS Environmental Equipment INTERFACE
PROBE'Well Monitoring System, which consists of a dual optical sensor and electrical conductivity
probe that distinguishes between water and petroleum products. The top of casing of the well will be
professionally surveyed relative to existing wells at a later date.
TASK 4: TRENCHING AND GROUNDWATER EXTRACTION
A trench for the groundwater extraction system piping will be excavated to connect the newly installed
groundwater extraction well with the existing GWES piping (Figure 2). Soil generated during trench
excavation will be stockpiled and covered with plastic sheeting pending characterization and proper
disposal.
A down hole electrical submersible pump will be installed in the well to extract groundwater and
determine recovery rates. The pump will be operated at maximum sustainable rates to monitor
influence in wells MW-8,MW-9, and MW-10.
TASK 5: WATER SAMPLE ANALYSES
After the groundwater extraction line is connected from the well to the remediation system, a
groundwater sample will be collected as part of standard system operation and maintenance. The
collected groundwater sample will be analyzed by a State-certified analytical laboratory (GTEL
Environmental Laboratories in Wichita, KS)for BTEX, methyl-tert-butyl-ether(MTBE), and TPH-G, by
EPA methods 8020/8015 modified. If MTBE is detected using the EPA method 8020 analysis, its
presence will be confirmed using EPA method 8260.
TASK 6: REPORT PREPARATION
Groundwater Technology will prepare a report summarizing the data collected under the scope of work
detailed above. The report will document the methods and results of the work, summarize laboratory
analytical results, and include appropriate maps. This report will provide available information as
outlined in SJCEHD's Site Assessment Report Checklist and will provide an evaluation of the feasibility
of continuing with groundwater extraction at the site.
17141 GROUNDWATER
=0TECHNOLOGY r
