All site-related groundwater monitoring and groundwater
extraction wells will be destroyed in response to a letter dated August 18, 1999, by the San Joaquin
County Public Health Services(SJCPHS) stating that investigation and remedial action of
contamination at the site has been completed. Since the wells are no longer needed for
environmental monitoring purposes, they will be destroyed to eliminate the potential for surface liquids
to enter the aquifer through the existing wells. The scope of work for well destruction is summarized
below.
Site Specific Health and Safety Plan 1 Permitting
IT Corporation will revise the existing site-specific Health and Safety Plan for the site as required by
the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA)Standard "Hazardous Waste Operations
and Emergency Response" guidelines (29 CFR 1910.120). The document will be reviewed and
signed by all IT Corporation personnel and subcontractors performing work at the site.
A permit for the destruction of all site-related monitoring wells will be applied for at the SJCPHS.
Encroachment permits for the destruction of off-site monitoring wells MW-15 and MW-11 will be
applied for at the City of Tracy Public Works Department.
20304dwg.Itr I
r
f
