This work was performed under Southland Environmental Work
Order No. 20304-5.
Groundwater Monitoring
On December 28, 1992, the depth to water and the depth to separate-phase hydrocarbons, if present,
were measured in 14 groundwater monitoring, wells before well purging and groundwater sample
collection. Separate-phase hydrocarbons were not detected in any of the monitoring wells. The water-
table elevations calculated from the December 28, 1992, monitoring data were used to prepare a
potentiometric surface map (Attachment 1, Figure 1). Wells MW-9 and MW-10 are screened into a
shallower water-bearing zone. Because wells MW-9, MWA0, and MWA 1 had repeatedly shown ground-
water elevations different from those in-the surrounding wells, they were not used to calculate the
potentiometric groundwater surface. The potentiometric surface elevation as measured in the ground-
water monitoring wells increased an average of 1.1 feet since the September 21, 1992, monitoring event.
The groundwater flow direction is toward the north-northeast with a hydraulic gradient of approximately
0.009 foot per foot (ft/ft). The historical and current water-level measurements are presented in
Attachment 2, Table 1.
R3767A1.MK
1
Offices throughout the U.S.,Canada and Overseas
TH
