FLUOR DANIEL GTI
December 11, 1998
Mr. Bob DeNinno
The Southland Corporation
10220 S.W. Greenburg Road, Suite 470
Portland OR 97223
Subject: Fourth Quarter 1998 Post-Remediation Monitoring and Sampling Report and Second
Request for Closure
i L Southland Store No.20304
455 Grant Line Road
Tracy,California
Fluor Daniel GTI Project 102480
Dear Mr. DeNinno:
This Fourth Quarter 1998 Monitoring and Sampling Report presents the results of monitoring and sampling
activities performed by Fluor Daniel GTI, Inc. (Fluor Daniel GTI) at the subject site (Figures 1 and 2,
Attachment 1) on October 15, 1998. Activities conducted during this reporting period are summarized
below.
■L
Depth to water(DTW)was gauged in 9 groundwater monitoring wells and two groundwater
Lextraction wells (Figure 2).
■ Groundwater samples were collected from three wells: MWA, MW-5, and MW-16, and
submitted to a certified laboratory for analysis for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and
L xylenes (BTEX), methyl-tert-butyl-ether(MTBE),total petroleum hydrocarbons-as-gasoline
(TPH-G), and the oxygenates. MTBE,tert-butanol (TBA), diisopropyl ether{DIPS), ethyl-
tert-butyl ether(ETBE) and tert-amylmethyl ether(TAME).
LClosure at this site is indicated based on post-remediation groundwater monitoring data which indicate
hydrocarbon concentrations have declined by up to 97%in the former source area (removed in April 1998).
The plume remains defined, and dissolved oxygen levels indicate continued on-going intrinsic
Lbiodegradation. Also, MTBE has not been detected in any of the wells at the site.
Groundwater Monitoring Data
Groundwater monitoring was performed on October 15, 1998. Prior to monitoring, the well caps were
opened to allow the water level in each well to stabilize to atmospheric pressure. The DTW was measured
to the nearest 0-01 foot from the tap of the well casing using an ORS Environmental Equipment
INTERFACE PROBE Well Monitoring system.
757 Arnold Drive, Suite D Martinez, CA 94553 USA (925) 370-3990 FAX (9251370-3991
ii
%4
