Groundwater Extraction Well Installation Summary Report Page 5 The Southland Corporation 455 Grant Line Road Tracy Californsa December 6 1996 60 ANALYTICAL RESULTS Table 2 summarizes the laboratory analytical results of soil samples collected from the soil borings on October 23, 1996,the trench soil samples collected on October 28 1996, and samples collected during previous site investigations Benzene and TPH-G concentrations ranged from below method detection limits in soil samples collected from GWE-2 at depths of 10 and 15 feet BGS, to 3 7 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) and 2,000 mg/kg, respectively, In GWE-3 at 5 feet BGS MTBE was not detected in any of the samples collected from the two extraction well borings Benzene and TPH-G In soil samples collected during trench excavation ranged from below method detection limits in samples collected at S-2, to 4 1 mg/kg and 2,800 mg/kg, respectively, at sample location S-3 at 5 feet BGS MTBE was detected in one sample, S-3 at 5 feet BGS, at a concentration of 7 4 mg/kg Copies of laboratory analyses reports and chain-of-custody manifests are included in Appendix E The influent water sample collected from the tank pit well, GWE-2, contained 1 0 micrograms per liter (ug/L) benzene and 340 ug/L TPH-G 7 D WASTE DISPOSAL On November 6, 1996, Aronson oversaw the loading and transportation of approximately 40 tons of soil generated from drilling and trenching activities to BFI s licensed Class III landfill located in Livermoore, California for disposal Copies of the Non-Hazardous Special Waste Manifests are included in Appendix F Purged groundwater from the two extraction wells and rinse water generated from steam cleaning was stored in DOT-approved 55-gallon drums and placed in the treatment compound pending disposal through the groundwater treatment system 80 SUMMARY AND STATUS In order to depress the water table and allow the use of soil vapor extraction at the subject site, two groundwater extraction wells GWE-2 and GWE-3 were drilled and installed at the site and a total of five well vaults connected with GWE and SVE lines were installed Three of the vaults were installed for potential future installation of additional wells One groundwater extraction pump was installed in GWE-2 and the system brought on line If the site can be dewatered using the tank pit well, soil vapor extraction will be used to remove hydrocarbons adsorbed to the soil It needed a second pump can be 0231tNST RAT(Sihi 5 1) FLUOR DANIEL GTI
