RESULTS
L
HYDRAULIC GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION DETERMINATION
Figures 6 and 7 are potentiometric surface maps showing relative groundwater
elevation contour (solid) lines interpolated from water level measurements
taken on January 11 and February 26, 1988, respectively. Extrapolated water
levels are depicted with dashed contour lines. The groundwater flow
direction is estimated to be approximately perpendicular to the contour
lines in the direction of decreasing water table elevation (assuming
isotropic conditions in the aquifer) . The flow direction beneath the site
is estimated to be to the north-northeast (toward the substation) , with an
average gradient of approximately 0.004 (4 feet of drop in hydraulic head
per 1000 feet of horizontal distance in the assumed direction of flow) .
Water level measurements taken at times between these dates produced results
consistent with these estimations.
SOIL ANALYSES
Results of chemical analyses performed on soil samples collected during this
investigation are summarized in Table 3. Laboratory data sheets for soil
analyses performed during this investigation are included in Appendix C.
GROUNDWATER ANALYSES
Results of laboratory analyses performed on groundwater samples collected
during this investigation are summarized in Table 4. A masked duplicate
water sample was collected from OW-2 for duality control purposes.
Laboratory data sheets for groundwater analyses performed during this
investigation are included in Appendix C.
6
3286a/BAV100 19
