8 . 0 ANALYTICAL RESULTS FOR SOIL SAMPLES
The soil samples collected from 6.0 and 19.0-feet bgs in boring MW-1, 5 .5
and 16.0-feet bgs in borings MW-2, MW-4, and MW-5, and 5.0 and 15.5-
feet bgs in boring MW-3 were submitted to Kiff Analytical, LLC for
analyses. The shallow ..soil samples collected and analyzed from t h e
borings represent the capillary zone. The deeper samples collected a n d
analyzed from the borings represent the silty clay or clay unit
immediately encountered below the screened interval.
All of the samples were analyzed for TPH-G, BTEX, the fuel oxygenates
MTBE, TBA, TAME, D1PE and ETBE, lead scavengers 1,2-DCA and 1,2-EDB,
and the alcohols ethanol and methanol by EPA Method 8260. The
analytical results for the soil samples collected are tabulated in Table One.
A copy of the certified analytical reports and chain of custody forms are
included in Appendix E.
The soil sample collected from boring MW-1 at 6.0-feet bgs contained 340
ppm TPH-G and 0.27 ppm ethyl benzene. The soil sample collected from
boring MW-2 at 5.5-feet bgs contained 5,400 ppm TPH-G, 8.4 p p m
benzene, 86 ppm toluene, 96 ppm ethyl benzene, 510 ppm total xylenes,
and 4.6 ppm MTBE. The soil samples collected from boring MW-4 at 5.5-
feet bgs contained 500 ppm TPH-G, 0.95 ppm benzene, 12 ppm ethyl
benzene, 3.9 ppm total xylenes, and 1.6 ppm MTBE. The soil samples
collected from borings MW-1 at 19.0-feet bgs and MW-2 at 16.0-feet bgs
contained relatively low detection of BTEX and MTBE. All other soil
samples analyzed did not contain any compounds over laboratory
reporting limits.
The benzene and total xylenes concentrations in soil samples collected at
5.5-feet bgs from boring MW-2 exceeded the PRGs for residential soil. Also
the benzene concentration in the soil sample collected from 5.5-feet bgs
in boring MW-4 exceeded the PRG for residential soil.
9 . 0 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION, DEVELOPMENT AND
SAMPLING
2-1 Monitoring--Well Installation
Groundwater monitoring wells MWA through MW-5 were installed in
borings MWA through MW-5, respectively. All monitoring wells were
constructed with 2-inch diameter, 0.020-inch factory slotted, flush-
threaded, Schedule 40 PVC well screen and blank casing.
