h
.-1
TASK 6 - ANALYZE EACH CAPILLARY ZONE SOIL SAMPLE
Analyze one (1) capillary zone soil sample from each boring at a CAL,EpA
certified analytical laboratory for TPH-G, BTEX, the fuel oxygenates MTBE,
TBA, TAME, DIPE and ETBE, and the alcohols ethanol and methanol by EPA
Method 8260.
TASK 7 - DEVELOP THE MONITORING WELLS
After waiting at least 72-hours following the well construction, ASE will
develop each monitoring well using at Ieast two episodes of surge block
agitation and evacuation using pumps and/or bailers.
TASK 8 - SAMPLE THE MONITORING WELLS
ASE will collect groundwater samples from the monitoring wells after
waiting at least 72 hours following the construction and development of
the monitoring wells. Prior to purging and sampling, ASE will measure the
depth to groundwater and check for floating product in all site wells prior
to purging water from any well. Any monitoring well which contains a
measurable thickness of free-floating product will not be sampled.
Prior to sampling, each well will be purged of at least four well casing
volumes of groundwater. The temperature, pH and electrical conductivity
of evacuated water will be monitored during the well purging. Purging will
continue beyond four well casing volumes if these parameters have n o t
stabilized. Groundwater samples will be collected from each well using
disposable polyethylene bailers. Groundwater will be decanted from the
bailers into 40-m1 glass volatile organic analysis (VOA) vials, preserved
with hydrochloric acid and sealed without headspace. The samples will
then be labeled with the site location, sample designation, date and time
the samples were collected, and the initials of the person collecting t h e
samples. The samples will be placed on ice for transport to the analytical
laboratory under chain of custody. Purged groundwater will be stored on-
site
n-
site in sealed and labeled 55-gallon steel drums until off-site disposal can
be arranged.
TASK 9 - ANALYZE THE GROUNDWATER SAMPLES
The groundwater samples will be analyzed by a CALrEPA certified
analytical laboratory for TPH-G, BTEX, the fuel oxygenates MTBE, TBA,
TAME, DIPE and ETBE, and the alcohols ethanol and methanol by EPA
Method 8260.
574 West Grand Line Road, Tracy, CA Workplan — June 2000
-7-
