Harding Lawson Associates
December 15, 1987
18040,001.03
San Joaquin Local Health District
601 E. Hazelton
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, California 95204 '
Attention: Ms. Laurie Cotulla 0 EU
U `' "-7
Ladies and Gentlemen;
ENVIRUr0ENIRL HEALTH
Application for Well Permits
FERmIT/SERVICES
7-Eleven Store
455 Grant Line Road
Tracy, California
0n behalf of 7-Eleven stores, Harding Lawson Associates (HLA) re-
quests the required well permits to install three monitoring wells
at 455 Grant Line Road in Tracy, California. We presented the re-
sults of two initial phases of our investigation at this site in
reports dated February 10 and April 28, 1987.
We anticipate to begin drilling operations on December 21, 1987.
HLA intends to install three monitoring wells and drill exploratory
borings at the approximate locations shown on the site plan at- f
tached. All borings/wells will be drilled using an 8-inch-diameter
continuous flight hollow-stem auger. Two wells will have
4-inch-diameter PVC casings and a third will have a two-inch casing.
The specific construction details for each well will be based on the
results of the drilling and sampling program. The following well
construction standards, in general, will be used:
Soil samples will be obtained approximately every 5 feet to the max-
imum depth explored. All samples will be sealed in brass tubes and
the ends covered with aluminum foil and caps taned on over the
foil. Samples will be placed immediately into an ice chest. The
augers and sampling equipment will be steam cleaned prior to start-
ing each boring; the sampling equipment will be washed in a solu-
tion of trisodium phosphate and tap water and rinsed in distilled
water between samples. The soil samples obtained will be accom-
panied by a chain-of-custody form, which will be turned over to a
chemical laboratory for testing. We anticipate that all wells will
be 15 feet deep. The wells will have screened sections with 0.02
diameter slots from the bottom to approximately two feet above
Engineers 1355 Willow Way Telephone Arizona Colorado Texas
and Suite 109 415/687-9660 Alaska Hawaii
Geoscientists Concord,CA 94520 California Nevada
