The EHD letter indicates that EHD staff
discussed our August 3, 2009 Closure Summary Report with Central Valley Regional Water
Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) staff and that CVRWQCB does not agree with us that the
case is ready for closure due to undefined contamination reported in offsite well MW-10.
CRA conducted further analysis of the data collected for this site and also reviewed data from
an adjacent site's environmental case acid from another environmental case in San Joaquin
County for comparison to the subject site. This letter presents the data reviewed and a
discussion which provides evidence that the methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) detected in
offsite well MW-10 is not associated with the release at the Shell site. Based on this evidence,
we request that the Shell site be reevaluated for case closure.
Subject Site Data
The subject site is a Shell-branded service station located at 2375 West Grant Line Road in Tracy,
California (Figure 1). The environmental case for this site was opened during 2003. The
primary constituent of concern at this site has been MTBE in the groundwater. The pertinent
facts regarding the subject site are listed below.
Equal
Em pfuymeni
Opportunity Employer
Worldwide Engineering,Environmental,Construction,and IT Services
